Documenting our Landscape

Photography occurs in fractions of seconds; by photographing something the photographer both creates a visual text thereby preserving something of the object being photographed and creates the artifact that preserves that which one person experienced in the world. Once created the photograph becomes a thing other than the object of that which was photographed. Independent of the fleeting visual that inspired the image, the photograph is distinct from that which once existed and is now always already gone.
