Knowing something, anything, is dependent on the remembered trace. The re-membered, the reconstruction of the trace that often is experienced as a progression of trace memory over some finite period of time. The r-membered, however, is incomplete by its very nature, subject to the filters of cultural, political, and self-imposed contexts that, in turn, require the one re-membering to mold the trace to comply with the appropriate context for which the re-membered trace is being applied. What is, then, recalled as the reality of any given set of trace experiences is a socially appropriate re-membering or construction of the direct, indirect, or even fictive trace memory.
