What is being photographed? Is it the central flower, the one in focus or is it, perhaps the out of focus tan stems and leaves in the background? All are present on the two-dimensional plane of the image to the left. The question asked is one of importance, of weight. Where does one place the weight of observation? On the obvious or that which is obscured from view by a veil of ambiguity? Or, just perhaps, is it a photograph designed to draw a distinction between that which can and cannot be known with certainty?
